Adventures and Memories

Day one of our holiday adventure
Day 2 of our holiday adventure
Final day of our holiday adventure

Last week the kids, Mum and I went on a fabulous holiday adventure – majestic landscapes, mountains, snow boarding, skiing, bike riding, luge racing, hiking and jet boating.

We visited special places that I have visited before – first with Mum, my late Dad and brother – and then with Mick. These places filled with me awe and it was wonderful to be able to share them with the kids.

The opportunity to travel was sparked in part by dear friends of Mick’s and mine sharing that they have a stunning Airbnb in Queenstown – inspiring me to seize the day.

Day one was a day of spring skiing … we pushed limits to make it happen … I couldn’t ski due to a knee injury but the kids embraced it and Mick would have been proud … they showed the same determination that he would – to maximise their ability and master the slopes. He would have Loved to have shared the day with them and to support them. But they did it on their own – with Mum and I supporting from the bar.

We had a wonderful day and when we made it home we looked out the window to see a vibrant rainbow – astonishing, poignant, uncanny and comforting.

Cheering us on to relish the beauty and experiences.

Our adventures continued. We saw more rainbows in the days ahead as we made and shared more memories embracing the beauty and awe that the South Island of New Zealand offers.
